Smile Inc. – Singapore

Singapore is easy on the eyes: its clean, its safe and its glitzy–yet beneath the shiny surface there is a dark shadow of repression.
This photo essay, shot while I was an exchange student at the National University of Singapore in 2008-2009, shows some of this less-known side of Singaporean society.
It is narrated by Chee Soon Juan, Secretary General of the Singapore Democratic Party, and Seelan Palay, an activist and the author of the dissident blog
