Corte Grande – Salvador (Brazil)

The Corte Grande slum in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, is one of the ‘better’ slums in the city because it is not run by a drug gang, but by the community itself. Quite a few of its inhabitants are elderly, however, and have no access to medical services. This is why a group of physiotherapy students led by Professor Nilton Jr. from FASBA university volunteer their services to the members of the community.

These photographs capture their work as well as scenes from the streets in the slum.
